“An advocate, in the discharge of his duty, knows but one person in all the world, and that person is his client. To save that client by all means and expedients, and at all hazards and costs to other persons, and among them, to himself, is his first and only duty; and in performing this duty he must not regard the alarm, the torments, the destruction which he may others. Separating the duty of a patriot from that of an advocate, he must go on reckless of consequences, though it should be his unhappy fate to involve his country in confusion.”
—Henry Lord Brougham
I'm Brady Skinner III, a dedicated attorney based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where I run my law firm, Brady Skinner Criminal Defense & Injury Lawyers, LLC. I founded my firm in April 2013, driven by a passion for helping individuals navigate the legal system. My focus areas include criminal defense, family law, and personal injury, and I pride myself on preparing cases thoroughly and advocating fiercely in both hearings and trials.
My journey in law began with my education at Southern University Law Center, where I earned my Juris Doctor in January 2012. During my time there, I had the privilege of serving as the President of the Evening Division of the Student Bar Association and as the Vice President of the Sports & Entertainment Legal Association. These leadership roles not only honed my skills but also ignited my enthusiasm for advocating for others.
Prior to law school, I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal and Public Communication. My involvement in student organizations, including serving as the President of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., taught me the importance of community and collaboration.
Throughout my career, I've taken on various roles that have enriched my legal experience. I'm a 2014 graduate of the National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) and a 2015 graduate of the Trial Lawyer's College (TLC). I've worked as a Public Defender as a Felony Attorney in Lake Charles, further developing my skills in trial preparation and advocacy. I've been appointed to handle violent crimes and sexual assault cases in various courts throughout Louisiana. Law firms throughout Louisiana consult with my firm and retain my office to represent their clients during trial.
In addition to my legal practice, I've had the opportunity to share my knowledge as a part-time professor at the Southern University Law Center, teaching courses in criminal law and trial advocacy, as well as a faculty member for the Trial Lawyer's College. I'm actively involved in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (Board of Directors 2018-Present) and the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (Board of Directors 2017-Present), where I contribute to various committees focused on helping attorneys better represent their clients. These experiences keep me sharp and ensure I provide the best possible representation for my clients.
Outside of my work, I'm passionate about quality time with family and friends. Overall, I strive to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone I come across, including my clients and the legal profession as a whole.
